[ODMS R7 R8](https://help.speakit.co.uk/om-system?hsLang=en-gb#odms-r7-r8) # ODMS R7/R8 - Device Recording Format (R7) This guide details how to change the recording format. This requires the Dictation Module or the Device Customisation Program to be installed in order to make these changes. 1. Open the Dictation Module or the Device Customisation Program. 2. Connect the recorder to the PC. 3. Click on Device -\> Device Settings. 4. The connected recorder will be automatically selected in the list. 5. Under the common settings click on Recording. 6. Select the required recording format from the Recording Mode drop down list. Under the Administrative settings click on Recording 8. Select the desired DSS format, DSS Pro will record in ds2 while DSS Classic will record in dss. ![Recording format 2](https://audiosupport.omsystem.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Recording-format-2.png) 9.
